Sri Lanka stock market trading halted on Wealth Trust error trade

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Trading at Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange was temporarily halted shortly after the market opened due to an error trade involving Wealth Trust Securities, which had just debuted on the exchange on Wednesday, according to an official statement.

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) website indicated that an initial trade was executed at the price of 25,000 rupees. Subsequent trades occurred at significantly lower prices, around 17 rupees and below. Wealth Trust Securities had initially offered its shares at 7.00 rupees during its public offering.

As a result of the error trade, the turnover was reported to have reached 162 billion rupees. Trading was paused to address and rectify the error, an official confirmed.
