Sri Lanka stocks close down 0.17-pct, turnover dips

Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange closed lower on Thursday, according to data published on its official website.

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) declined by 0.17 percent, or 37.12 points, ending the day at 22,292.57. The S&P SL20 index also saw a decrease, falling by 0.06 percent, or 3.90 points, to close at 6,066.43.

Total market turnover reached 2.3 billion rupees.

The leading positive contributors to the ASPI included John Keells Holdings, which increased by 20 cents to 21.20 rupees, Ceylon Tobacco, up 27 rupees at 1,724.00 rupees, Pickme, rising 4 rupees to 149.00 rupees, Bukit Darah, up 18.25 rupees at 1,030.25 rupees, and DFCC Bank, which gained 1 rupee to close at 147.00 rupees.

In corporate developments, Yaden Capital (Private) Limited increased its stake in Maharaja Foods to 10.04 percent following a transaction on Wednesday, as disclosed in a stock exchange filing.
