FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Monday, the Colombo Stock Exchange opened positively and maintained its upward trend through midday, according to data from the CSE. The All Share Price Index rose by 0.25 percent, gaining 59.31 points to reach 23,832.95. In contrast, the S&P SL20 experienced a decline of 0.32 percent, losing 21.19 points to settle at 6,742.66.
Melstacorp emerged as the leading contributor to the positive movement of the All Share Price Index, with its shares priced at 184.25 rupees. The day’s turnover was recorded at 1.18 billion rupees.
In a significant development, Melstacorp announced the divestment of 2,000,000 shares from its existing shareholding of 4,252,264,664 shares in the Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC. Following this announcement, Melstacorp’s stock rose by 1.79 percent to 184.50 rupees, while shares of the Distilleries Company saw a 2.54 percent increase, reaching 60.50 rupees.
