Sri Lanka’s total imports decreased to $1,779 million in November 2025, compared to a peak of $2,157 million in October, according to official data. This decline occurred despite an increase in personal vehicle imports during the month.

In November, personal vehicle imports rose to $227.6 million, up from $205.6 million in the previous month. By the end of November, the country had imported personal vehicles valued at $1,365.8 million.

However, car dealers reported a significant drop in sales in December, attributing the decline to the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah. Additionally, the central bank implemented tighter loan-to-value ratios, impacting the market further.
