Sri Lanka tourist arrivals exceed 2018 level

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka has achieved a significant milestone by welcoming its 2,333,797th visitor for the year 2025, marking the highest number of tourist arrivals ever recorded on the island. This surpasses the previous record of 2,333,796 arrivals set in 2018.

India continues to be the leading source of tourists to Sri Lanka, with the latest visitors arriving on a flight from Thiruvananthapuram. Sri Lanka Tourism reported that Prof. Felix Beslin Pereira, along with Reena Fernandez and Ann Cristina Pereira, a family from Thiruvananthapuram, India, were the 2,333,797th and subsequent guests. They arrived on SriLankan Airlines flight UL 162.

The National Peoples Power government of Sri Lanka had set ambitious targets for the year, aiming for a revenue of 5 billion US dollars and 3 million tourist arrivals. (Colombo/Dec29/2025)
