Recently, EY Global Delivery Services (EY GDS) Sri Lanka, a component of the global EY network, organized the EY Global Delivery Services Milestones event at The Lumina Hall, Cinnamon Life, located in Colombo.
The event was attended by the Honorable Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, along with key figures from EY’s global leadership team, including senior executives and members of the EY GDS leadership. This gathering recognized the achievements of directors, executive directors, senior managers, associate directors, and managers who are advancing into new leadership positions within EY GDS.
This milestone occasion showcased Sri Lanka’s growing reputation as a center for global leadership discussions and talent development. Remarkably, the country hosted approximately 3,500 EY professionals over a span of two weeks, marking the largest EY event ever held in Sri Lanka.
In her keynote speech, Prime Minister Amarasuriya underscored Sri Lanka’s transformation into a knowledge and innovation-driven economy, fueled by advancements in digital technology and talent cultivation. She elaborated on the National Digital Economy Strategy, which aims to prioritize AI-first operations, enhance ICT exports, and reinforce the nation’s position as a regional hub for innovation.
The Prime Minister praised EY GDS for its role in fostering economic growth in Sri Lanka and for contributing to the establishment of the country as a center for innovation, technology, and skilled talent. She emphasized the importance of developing local talent and cultivating leadership to ensure long-term, sustainable growth.
The Prime Minister’s presence at the event demonstrated the government’s commitment to enhancing partnerships with the private sector and fostering an environment conducive to innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent development.
“This Milestone celebration is a reflection of the dedication, resilience, and excellence exhibited by EY GDS professionals. Their accomplishments not only uplift the organization but also play a crucial role in Sri Lanka’s rise as a center for global business and innovation,” stated the Prime Minister.
Harsha Basanayake, Global Managing Partner of EY and a Sri Lankan native who commenced his career in the country, remarked, “Hosting this Milestone event in Sri Lanka is an honor for all of us. It highlights the exceptional talent and potential within the nation and underscores the robust partnership between EY and Sri Lanka in creating a future-ready workforce.”
