Sri Lankan exports to Saudi Arabia rose by 19% during the January–September 2025 period, compared with the same timeframe in 2024, underscoring a strong expansion in bilateral trade.

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Kingdom, Ameer Ajwad, described the double-digit growth as a significant achievement in 2025, attributing it to sustained and well-coordinated efforts by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh. He noted that these initiatives were carried out in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the Department of Commerce, the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, the Sri Lanka Tea Board, and other relevant institutions.

The Ambassador said the Embassy adopted a focused strategy to enhance the visibility of Sri Lankan products, including active participation in major international trade exhibitions across the Kingdom. He added that total bilateral trade between the two countries increased by 9%, reflecting deepening economic ties and growing complementarities.

Saudi Arabia remains a key destination for Sri Lankan exports such as tea, spices, fruits, vegetables, coconut-based products, processed foods including frozen seafood, construction materials, and other consumer goods. At the same time, Sri Lanka continues to import essential commodities and energy supplies from the Kingdom, highlighting a balanced and mutually beneficial trade relationship.
