FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – A delegation of 20 lawmakers along with 4 parliamentary officials from Sri Lanka is currently attending a workshop in Beijing and Guangdong Province, China. This event, organized by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China, takes place from May 26 to June 5.
The workshop features a comprehensive agenda that includes lectures, discussions, visits to various institutions, and practical engagements across Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangdong Province. The focus areas encompass governance, economic advancement, infrastructure development, technological progress, green initiatives, and sustainable development practices in China.
A statement from the parliament highlighted that Sri Lanka’s involvement in this workshop reflects the ongoing dedication of both nations to bolster their long-standing bilateral ties, enhance parliamentary diplomacy, and foster institutional collaboration and knowledge sharing between Sri Lanka and the People’s Republic of China.
The visiting team includes prominent figures such as Kaushalya Ariyarathna, T B Sarath, Chamara Sampath Dasanayake, Rohana Bandara, W H M Dharmasena, Upul Kithsiri, Thahir Marikar, Chandana Thennakoon, Dharmapriya Dissanayake, Susantha Kumara Nawarathna, Nandana Pathmakumara, Stefani Fernando, Sri Bavanandarajah, E M Basnayaka, Mohammed Sharif Fasmin, Pathmanathan Sathiyalingam, Dinesh Hemantha Perera, Samantha Ranasingha, Abthul Wazeeth, and Roshan Akmeemana.
Additionally, the delegation includes Hansa Abeyrathne, Assistant Secretary-General; Gamage Sarath Kumara, Director of Finance; Lal Kumarasiri, Senior Parliamentary Interpreter; and Ama Vithanage, Chief Parliamentary Protocol Officer. (Colombo/May 28/2026)
