Sri Lankan Rupee Declines as Bond Yields Hold Steady

The Sri Lankan rupee concluded trading at 309.72/80 against the US dollar in the spot market on Wednesday, slightly depreciating from the previous day’s rate of 309.65/70, according to market dealers. Meanwhile, bond yields remained largely stable.

The yield on a bond maturing on December 15, 2026, increased slightly to 8.40/50 percent from 8.35/45 percent. The yield on the bond due March 15, 2028, closed at 9.03/08 percent.

For the bond maturing on December 15, 2029, the yield closed at 9.64/67 percent, a slight decrease from 9.65/68 percent. Similarly, the bond maturing on March 15, 2031, saw its yield decrease to 9.95/10.00 percent from 9.95/10.05 percent.

The bond maturing on June 1, 2033, closed with a yield of 10.65/70 percent, down from 10.70/75 percent. Lastly, the yield on the bond due June 15, 2035, decreased to 11.03/06 percent from 11.05/10 percent.
