Sri Lankan Rupee Ends at 335/335.25 Against the US Dollar as Bond Yields Decline

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Tuesday, the Sri Lankan rupee was recorded at 335.00/335.25 against the US dollar in the spot market, reflecting a depreciation from the previous day’s rate of 333.00/334.50, according to market analysts. Meanwhile, bond yields experienced a decline.

In terms of telegraphic transfer rates, the rupee was valued at 329.00 for buying and 338.00 for selling against the US dollar. The euro was priced at 378.7135 for selling and 392.6305 for buying, while the pound stood at 439.9314 for buying and 453.9770 for selling.

The yield on a bond due on 15 September 2027 dropped to 10.50/60 percent, decreasing from the previous 10.65/75 percent. A bond set to mature on 15 February 2028 closed at 10.80/90 percent. Additionally, a bond maturing on 15 December 2029 was recorded at 11.15/20 percent, and another bond due on 1 August 2030 closed at 11.40/50 percent. Furthermore, a bond maturing on 15 January 2033 ended at 11.72/80 percent, while a bond due on 15 March 2035 saw a slight decrease to 12.00/05 percent from 12.05/25 percent.

Looking ahead, an auction for treasury bills amounting to 70 billion rupees is set to take place on Wednesday. (Colombo/Jun16/2026)
