Sri Lankan Rupee Ends at 335.35/45 Against the US Dollar as Bond Yields Decline

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Friday, the Sri Lankan rupee was valued at 335.35/45 against the US dollar in the spot market, a slight decrease from the previous day’s rate of 335.55/80. Additionally, bond yields experienced a decline in the shorter maturities, according to market dealers.

A bond set to mature on September 15, 2027 remained unchanged, closing at a yield of 10.00/20 percent. Meanwhile, the bond maturing on October 15, 2028 saw a reduction in its yield, closing at 10.45/50 percent, down from the previous 10.50/65 percent.

Similarly, the bond due on December 15, 2029 closed at 10.80/90 percent, a decrease from the earlier 10.90/11.00 percent. The bond maturing on October 15, 2030 also experienced a yield drop, finishing at 11.25/30 percent, down from 11.33/37 percent.

Conversely, a bond maturing on February 1, 2031 registered a slight increase, closing at 11.35/40 percent, up from 11.31/40 percent. The bond due on October 15, 2034 closed at a yield of 12.10/15 percent, a small decline from the previous 12.12/13 percent.

Finally, the bond maturing on August 15, 2036 saw its yield close at 12.55/60 percent, unchanged from the previous 12.55/65 percent. The bond due on July 1, 2037 also recorded a decrease, closing at 12.55/65 percent, down from 12.60/65 percent.
