Sri Lankan Rupee Ends at 335.70/75 Against the US Dollar, Bond Yields Remain Stable

Sri Lanka’s currency, the rupee, finished trading at 335.70/75 against the US dollar in the spot market on Tuesday, with bond yields remaining largely unchanged across most maturities, according to market participants.

The yield for a bond set to mature on September 15, 2027, was recorded at 10.10/30 percent. Meanwhile, a bond maturing on October 15, 2028, was priced at 10.60/70 percent. The yield for a bond maturing on December 15, 2029, stood at 10.95/11.05 percent. For a bond due on August 1, 2030, the yield closed at 11.40/45 percent, while another maturing on October 15, 2030, was at 11.42/45 percent. Additionally, the yield for a bond maturing on January 15, 2033, was noted at 12.05/15 percent, and a bond maturing on October 15, 2034, closed at 12.20/30 percent. Lastly, a bond set to mature on July 1, 2037, was quoted at 12.75/85 percent.

In terms of telegraphic transfer rates, the US dollar was bought at 331.25 and sold at 340.25, while the euro was at 378.8585 for buying and 392.6393 for selling. The pound was recorded at 443.8384 for buying and 457.9468 for selling.

In related news, an auction is scheduled to issue Rs 140,000 million in Treasury bills on August 5.
