FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Thursday, the exchange rate for the Sri Lankan rupee was reported at 333.00/335.00 against the US dollar in the spot market, a slight increase from the previous day’s rate of 332.25/75, according to market dealers. Meanwhile, activity in the secondary bond market remained subdued in anticipation of an upcoming auction.
An auction for Treasury bonds amounting to 150,000 million rupees is set to take place soon.
The telegraphic transfer rates for the Sri Lankan rupee were noted at 328.00 for buying and 337.00 for selling against the US dollar. For the euro, the selling rate was 376.4077, while the buying rate stood at 390.3247. The pound was quoted at 437.9428 for buying and 451.9884 for selling.
Additionally, a bond due on July 1, 2028, was priced at 11.85/12.00 percent, up from a previous rate of 11.75/85 percent. A bond set to mature on October 15, 2030, was quoted at 12.20/30 percent, slightly down from 12.25/40 percent.
