Sri Lankan Rupee Settles at 333/334.50 Against the US Dollar, Bond Yields Decline

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Monday, Sri Lanka’s currency, the rupee, settled at a rate of 333.00/334.50 against the US dollar in the spot market, a decline from the previous day’s rate of 335.50/336.00. This shift is attributed to a significant reduction in bond yields following the announcement of a deal between the US and Iran, according to market dealers.

In terms of telegraphic transfer rates, the rupee was valued at 327.50 for buying and 336.50 for selling against the US dollar. For the euro, the selling rate was 377.6064, while the buying rate stood at 391.5234. The pound was valued at 439.3154 for buying and 453.3610 for selling.

Regarding bond yields, a bond set to mature on September 15, 2027, closed at 10.65/75 percent. Meanwhile, a bond maturing on September 15, 2029, ended at 11.15/25 percent. The yield for a bond due on May 15, 2030, closed at 11.50/60 percent. Additionally, a bond maturing on December 15, 2032, saw its yield decrease from 12.25/40 percent to 11.70/80 percent. Lastly, the yield for a bond maturing on March 15, 2035, fell from 12.65/95 percent to 12.05/25 percent.
