Sri Lankan Rupee Settles at 335.50/336 Against the US Dollar as Bond Yields Decline

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Friday, the Sri Lankan rupee concluded trading at a rate of 335.50/336.00 against the US dollar in the spot market, a decrease from the previous day’s closing of 336.00/337.00. This shift occurred alongside a significant drop in bond yields following Donald Trump’s recent announcement, according to market dealers.

The telegraphic transfer rates for the Sri Lankan rupee were recorded at 331.6500 for buying and 337.00 for selling against the US dollar. In terms of other currencies, the euro was priced at 381.2123 for selling and 395.1293 for buying, while the pound was at 443.7520 for buying and 457.7976 for selling.

In the bond market, a bond set to mature on February 15, 2028, closed with yields at 11.25/40 percent, a decrease from the previous range of 11.65/80 percent. Similarly, a bond maturing on August 1, 2030, ended at 11.90/12.05 percent, down from 12.10/25 percent. Additionally, a bond maturing on December 15, 2032, saw yields close at 12.25/40 percent, down from 12.50/13.00 percent. Lastly, a bond maturing on March 15, 2035, finished at 12.65/95 percent, a reduction from 13.00/30 percent.
