Sri Lankan Rupee Settles at 335.90/336.00 Against the US Dollar, While Bond Yields Decline

In the latest financial update, Sri Lanka’s currency, the rupee, settled at a rate of 335.90/336.00 against the US dollar in the spot market on Thursday, a slight decrease from the previous day’s closing of 336.20/40, according to market dealers.

For telegraphic transfers, the rupee was quoted at a buying rate of 331.75 and a selling rate of 340.75 against the US dollar. Additionally, the euro was priced at 375.0737 for selling and 388.9907 for buying, while the British pound was listed at 439.7166 for buying and 453.7622 for selling.

In the bond market, the yield on a bond maturing on September 15, 2027, was recorded at 10.35/45 percent, down from the previous 10.35/50 percent. Similarly, the yield for a bond maturing on March 15, 2028, adjusted to 10.53/62 percent from 10.55/65 percent. A bond set to mature on December 15, 2029, had a yield of 10.90/11.00 percent, a decrease from 11.00/05 percent.

Moreover, the yield for a bond maturing on August 1, 2030, fell to 11.18/25 percent from 11.30/38 percent. The bond maturing on October 15, 2030, was reported at 11.20/27 percent, while a bond with a maturity date of December 15, 2032, showcased a yield of 11.50/60 percent. Lastly, a bond scheduled to mature on November 1, 2033, saw yields decline to 11.60/70 percent from 11.65/75 percent, and a bond maturing on June 15, 2034, remained at 11.65/75 percent.
