Sri Lankan Rupee Settles at 336.35/40 Against the US Dollar as Bond Yields Remain Stable

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Wednesday, the Sri Lankan rupee was recorded at 336.35/40 against the US dollar in the spot market, a slight variation from the previous day’s rate of 336.35/50, according to market participants. Meanwhile, bond yields remained relatively stable.

The telegraphic transfer rates indicated a buying rate of 331.90 and a selling rate of 340.90 for the US dollar. For the euro, the rates were 375.9509 for buying and 389.8679 for selling, while the pound was priced at 443.1789 for buying and 457.2245 for selling.

As for bond performance, a bond set to mature on September 15, 2027, saw a decrease in yield, closing at 10.30/40 percent, down from 10.35/40 percent. The bond maturing on October 15, 2028, concluded at 10.70/80 percent. Another bond maturing on December 15, 2029, remained unchanged at 11.20/30 percent.

A bond maturing on August 1, 2030, showed a slight decrease, closing at 11.55/60 percent, down from 11.55/65 percent. The bond set to mature on October 15, 2030, held steady at 11.60/65 percent. Additionally, a bond maturing on October 1, 2032, closed at 12.05/10 percent, while a bond maturing on November 1, 2033, remained stable at 12.00/20 percent.
