Sri Lankan Rupee Stabilizes as Bond Yields Remain Unchanged

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Monday, the Sri Lankan rupee remained stable against the US dollar, closing at 316.30/70 in the spot market, unchanged from the previous day’s rate of 316.50/70, according to market dealers. Meanwhile, bond yields showed little variation.

A bond set to mature on December 15, 2026, ended with a yield of 8.45/55 percent. For the bond maturing on February 15, 2028, the yield closed at 9.35/55 percent. The bond due on September 15, 2029, saw a yield of 9.95/10.00 percent. In contrast, the bond maturing on July 1, 2030, decreased slightly to 10.15/20 percent from the previous 10.12/17 percent.

Furthermore, a bond scheduled to mature on December 15, 2032, was recorded at 10.70/90 percent, while the bond maturing on June 1, 2033, increased to 10.95/11.05 percent from 10.95/11.00 percent. Lastly, the bond maturing on June 15, 2034, experienced a slight rise to 11.08/17 percent, compared to the previous close of 11.10/17 percent. (Colombo/Apr20/2026)
