Sri Lankan Rupee Stabilizes at 333.50/335 Against the US Dollar as Bond Yields Decline Further

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Wednesday, Sri Lanka’s currency, the rupee, was valued at 333.50/335.00 against the US dollar in the spot market, a decline from the previous day’s rate of 335.00/335.25. This adjustment occurred alongside a significant decrease in bond yields and a drop in Brent crude oil prices, as reported by market dealers.

The telegraphic transfer rates for the Sri Lankan rupee were set at 330.50 for buying and 339.50 for selling against the US dollar. For the euro, the selling rate was 381.3391, while the buying rate stood at 395.2561. The pound was traded at 442.7458 for buying and 456.7914 for selling.

In terms of bond pricing, a bond set to mature on August 1, 2030, was quoted at a yield of 11.22/25 percent, down from the previous rate of 11.40/50 percent. Similarly, a bond maturing on December 15, 2032, was quoted at 11.50/55 percent. Another bond maturing on January 15, 2033, had a yield of 11.50/60 percent, a decrease from the earlier 11.72/80 percent. Additionally, a bond maturing on June 15, 2034, was quoted at 11.75/80 percent, while a bond set to mature on March 15, 2035, was quoted at 11.80/90 percent, down from 12.00/05 percent.
