Sri Lankan Rupee Stands at 335.50/336.00 Against USD as Bond Yields Decline

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Friday, Sri Lanka’s rupee was valued at 335.50/336.00 against the US dollar in the spot market, a drop from the previous day’s rate of 336.00/337.00, according to market dealers. Meanwhile, there was a noticeable increase in activity within the secondary bond market, where yields saw a significant decline amid positive sentiments regarding a potential agreement between the US and Iran.

Specific bond yields reflected this trend, with a bond set to mature on July 1, 2028 quoted at 11.40/70 percent, down from 11.75/85 percent. Similarly, a bond maturing on December 15, 2029 was priced at 11.90/12.05 percent, reduced from 12.00/15 percent. Additionally, a bond due on October 15, 2030 was quoted at 12.00/15 percent, down from 12.15/35 percent. The bond maturing on December 15, 2032 saw a yield of 12.50/65 percent, consistent with its previous rate of 12.50/13.00 percent. Lastly, a bond scheduled to mature on March 15, 2035 was quoted at 12.80/13.00 percent, down from 13.00/30 percent.

The telegraphic transfer rates for the Sri Lankan rupee against major currencies were also reported, with the rupee trading at 331.65 for buying and 340.65 for selling against the US dollar. Against the euro, the rates were 381.2123 for selling and 395.1293 for buying, while the pound was priced at 443.7520 for buying and 457.7976 for selling. (Colombo/Jun12/2026)
