Sri Lankan Rupee Trades at 335.48/55 Against the US Dollar as Bond Yields Decline

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Friday, the Sri Lankan rupee was valued at 335.48/55 against the US dollar in the spot market, a slight decrease from the previous day’s rate of 335.55/80. Additionally, there was a decline in bond yields for shorter maturities, as reported by market dealers.

The yield for the bond set to mature on May 1, 2027 was recorded at 10.00/10 percent. Meanwhile, the bond due on February 15, 2028 saw yields quoted at 10.35/40 percent. For the bond maturing on September 15, 2029, the yield was noted at 10.85/95 percent.

In terms of yields, the bond maturing on May 15, 2030 was quoted at 11.15/20 percent, while another bond maturing on July 1, 2030 had yields of 11.20/30 percent. The bond set to mature on August 1, 2030 was quoted at 11.25/30 percent. Additionally, the yield for the bond maturing on March 15, 2031 was recorded at 11.35/43 percent.

For longer tenors, the bond maturing on November 1, 2033 was quoted at 11.95/12.05 percent, while the yield for the bond maturing on October 15, 2034 decreased to 12.10/18 percent from a previous 12.12/13 percent. Lastly, the bond maturing on August 15, 2036 remained unchanged at 12.55/65 percent, and the bond maturing on July 1, 2037 was also quoted flat at 12.60/65 percent.
