FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Wednesday, the Sri Lankan rupee was valued at 335.50/90 against the US dollar in the spot market, an increase from the previous day’s rate of 334.75/85, according to market dealers.
For telegraphic transfers, the rupee was priced at 330.50 for buying and 339.50 for selling against the US dollar. In relation to the euro, the selling rate was 375.6944, while the buying rate stood at 389.6114. The pound was quoted at 441.8078 for buying and 455.8534 for selling.
In the bond market, various maturities showed an upward trend in yields. A bond set to mature on December 15, 2029, was priced at 11.00/08 percent, up from the previous 10.95/11.05 percent. Meanwhile, a bond maturing on March 15, 2030, was quoted at 11.10/15 percent.
Additionally, a bond with a maturity date of August 1, 2030, was listed at 11.25/35 percent, a slight rise from the earlier rate of 11.25/30 percent. The bond maturing on October 15, 2030, was quoted at 11.35/40 percent, up from 11.28/30 percent. Lastly, a bond maturing on December 15, 2032, was priced at 11.60/65 percent, increasing from 11.57/65 percent, and a bond due on November 1, 2033, was quoted at 11.65/75 percent, up from 11.60/70 percent.
Furthermore, the government plans to issue Rs 100,000 million worth of Treasury bills through an auction scheduled for July 8. (Colombo/Jul 7/2026)
