FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Friday, the Sri Lankan rupee was valued at 335.75/90 against the US dollar in the spot market, showing a slight improvement from the previous day’s rate of 336.00/30. Meanwhile, bond yields experienced a minor increase, according to market dealers.
For telegraphic transfers, the exchange rate for the Sri Lankan rupee stood at 331.50 for buying and 340.50 for selling against the US dollar. The euro was priced at 376.2676 for selling and 390.1846 for buying, while the pound was quoted at 443.1308 for buying and 457.1764 for selling.
In terms of bonds, the yield on a bond set to mature on December 15, 2029, remained unchanged at 11.05/15 percent. A bond maturing on March 1, 2030, was quoted at 11.15/30 percent, reflecting a slight increase from the previous rate of 11.15/25 percent. Additionally, a bond scheduled for maturity on May 15, 2030, was quoted at 11.25/35 percent, and another maturing on July 1, 2030, was priced at 11.35/40 percent.
A bond maturing on August 1, 2030, held steady at 11.40/45 percent. Conversely, a bond set to mature on October 15, 2030, saw a slight decrease, quoted at 11.46/48 percent compared to the previous 11.45/50 percent. Lastly, a bond maturing on November 1, 2033, was recorded at 11.75/85 percent.
