FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – A group of women-led businesses is currently showcasing Sri Lanka’s diverse export offerings across London, Manchester, and Yorkshire. These offerings include renowned products such as Ceylon cinnamon, tea, coconut-based goods, and uniquely crafted hot sauces made from scotch bonnet chili peppers.

This initiative is supported by the UK–Sri Lanka trade mission and the SheTrades Sri Lanka Hub, aiming to bolster direct engagement with the UK market. The trade mission focuses on establishing tangible business linkages, as highlighted by the Export Development Board (EDB).

The platform facilitates open exchange and practical dialogue on bilateral trade, emphasizing the unique experiences of women exporters. Over the course of five days, the trade mission is organizing business-to-business (B2B) meetings and company visits for three Sri Lankan women-led businesses in the regions of London, Manchester, and Yorkshire.

“They will be showcasing the diversity and quality of Sri Lanka’s export offerings, from Ceylon cinnamon and tea to coconut-based products, spices, and innovative processed agrifoods, including hot sauces made from Sri Lanka’s scotch bonnet chili peppers – all certified in compliance with the highest international export standards,” stated the EDB.

The United Kingdom is a significant export market for Sri Lanka, with 92 percent of goods eligible for zero tariffs under the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS).

This initiative is part of the UK Government-funded SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme, implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC). The SheTrades Sri Lanka Hub, hosted by the EDB, collaborates with UK business associations and the High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom to deliver this program. (Colombo/Feb13/2026)
