Sunshine Holdings PLC (SUN), a diversified conglomerate in Sri Lanka, has announced plans to acquire a 75% stake in Joint Agri Products Ceylon (Private) Limited (JAPC), a prominent export-oriented company. This acquisition is contingent upon the conditions outlined in the Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) signed on January 21, 2026.
The SPA signing ceremony occurred at Sunshine Holdings PLC’s Corporate Office, marking a strategic milestone in SUN’s long-term growth strategy.
This acquisition is in line with Sunshine Holdings’ goal to expand its global reach and enhance its Consumer sector, further diversifying its business portfolio. By entering the premium export segment, SUN seeks to bolster its presence in high-value international markets and establish resilient, future-proof revenue streams.
Commenting on the acquisition, Shyam Sathasivam, Group Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Holdings PLC, stated, “This investment is a deliberate step in expanding Sunshine Holdings’ global footprint through businesses that demonstrate resilience, scalability, and strong market relevance. JAPC has developed a credible export platform in premium organic categories, supported by strong international relationships and operational rigor. We believe this partnership will enable the business to accelerate its growth while reinforcing our commitment to building export-led enterprises that create long-term value for Sri Lanka.”
The company to be acquired specializes in the processing and export of organic spices and other agricultural products, targeting high-end global market segments. Its operations are divided into two business arms: General Exports, focusing on B2B sales to international clients, and a nascent direct-to-consumer retail sales division (B2C).
The management of Sunshine Holdings will collaborate closely with the existing management team to ensure a seamless transition. Business operations will continue without interruption, while SUN will offer its expertise in governance, operational excellence, and strategic growth to further strengthen and expand the business.
