Superloop has recently inaugurated the Superloop Future Minds Lab at Anuruddha Balika Vidyalaya in Colombo, enhancing technology access for girls at the school.
This cutting-edge digital learning facility has upgraded the school’s former computer room into a contemporary tech center, equipping students with laptops and essential infrastructure. It aims to foster practical skills in digital literacy, IT, and STEM for learners from Grade 1 to 13.
Providing early, hands-on technology experience is an effective strategy for developing enduring digital capabilities, and the Superloop Future Minds Lab is specifically designed to facilitate this learning process.
Tina Ooi, Chief Legal & Corporate Officer at Superloop, emphasized, “Technology has the potential to create opportunities, but it is crucial that young individuals can access, learn, and envision its possibilities.” She added, “Supporting the next generation is vital for Superloop, especially for young girls who are often underrepresented in various STEM sectors. By enhancing technology access and digital education, we can cultivate more opportunities for future innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders.”
The opening ceremony witnessed the participation of students, educators, school and community leaders, along with senior executives from Superloop, including Tina Ooi, Ben Colman, Mehul Dave, and Grant Caldwell, the Sri Lanka Country Lead.
This initiative aligns seamlessly with Superloop’s dedication to connectivity and digital inclusion. The Superloop Future Minds Lab aims not only to provide technological access but also to serve as a platform for practical education in digital literacy, IT, mathematics, and STEM fields.
Mrs. Hemamali Udawatta, Principal of Anuruddha Balika Vidyalaya, remarked, “The Superloop Future Minds Lab is not just a new learning space; it represents an investment in the potential of our students. We aspire for it to empower every girl here to explore new avenues and acquire the tools needed to pursue careers they may never have imagined.”
Although Superloop is headquartered in Australia, it has a significant presence in Sri Lanka through its Colombo-based TechHub, which supports innovation, technology, and customer service across the organization.
Grant Caldwell highlighted the significance of the Sri Lankan team’s role in Superloop’s ongoing growth and success. “Colombo is home to a remarkable group of individuals whose expertise and commitment drive Superloop every day. The Superloop Future Minds Lab is a significant way for us to give back to the community and provide opportunities for young people who are the future talent and innovators,” he stated.
The Superloop Future Minds Lab marks the beginning of what Superloop envisions as a long-term collaboration with the school and its community. Through employee volunteering and community involvement, Superloop plans to explore future initiatives, including mentoring, career awareness sessions, and programs that help students and families appreciate the value of education and the opportunities it can create.
