FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The yields on Sri Lanka’s Treasury bills experienced a significant increase across all maturities during the auction held on Tuesday, as reported by the Public Debt Management Office. A total of 95.55 billion rupees in bills were successfully sold from an available offering of 140 billion rupees.
The yield for the 3-month Treasury bill rose by 18 basis points, reaching 8.36 percent, with 65 billion rupees offered and 71.24 billion rupees sold.
For the 6-month bill, the yield surged by 43 basis points to 8.68 percent, with 45 billion rupees available and only 14.4 billion rupees sold.
The 12-month bill saw its yield increase by 34 basis points, reaching 8.83 percent. For this maturity, 30 billion rupees were offered, with 9.9 billion rupees sold.
All three types of bills are currently available for purchase. The settlement date for this auction is set for May 29. (Colombo/May 26/2026)
