Suwasevana Hospital and NITF Enhance Agrahara Benefits for Government Employees with MoU Renewal

Suwasevana Hospital in Kandy, a leading healthcare provider in the Central Province with over four decades of service since its establishment on August 1, 1985, has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF). This renewal, effective for another three years, underscores a mutual commitment to delivering accessible, reliable, and quality healthcare to Sri Lankan government employees covered under the Agrahara Insurance scheme.

The formal signing of the renewed agreement took place on January 6, 2026, during an official ceremony attended by senior representatives from both organizations. The partnership aims to provide enhanced medical benefits and exclusive discounts to public sector employees, thereby promoting affordability and improved access to specialized healthcare services.

Representing Suwasevana Hospital at the signing were Mr. Srimath Walivita, Head of Business Development, Ms. Nilu Weragama, Head of Business Operations, and Mr. Ashan Premachandra, Business Development Executive. Representing Agrahara Insurance under the National Insurance Trust Fund were Mrs. Gamani Liyanarachchi, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Samil Thushara, Assistant General Manager (Operations), Mr. Nuwan Dissanayake, Assistant Manager (Marketing), and Ms. Prathibha Welikanna, Board Secretary and Assistant Manager (Legal).

Under the terms of the renewed MoU, government employees covered by Agrahara Insurance will benefit from a comprehensive package at Suwasevana Hospital. This includes free admission fees, free OPD consultations with a Medical Officer, and a 20 percent discount on room rates. Additionally, there are 10 percent discounts on laboratory investigations and radiology investigations for both inward and OPD patients, including CT, USS, MRI, Mammogram, Dexa Scan, and X-Ray, as well as on cardiology investigations such as ECHO and ECG. Furthermore, a complimentary ambulance service is available for distances up to 10 kilometers, excluding professional fees, and there is a benefit of LKR 50,000 applicable for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) procedures.
