TikTok has published its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the first quarter of 2026, highlighting the platform’s dedication to fostering a safe online environment for its users. This report, which encompasses data from January through March 2026, outlines the proactive measures TikTok has implemented to detect and eliminate content that breaches its Community Guidelines, thereby enhancing the user experience across its global community.
In Sri Lanka during Q1 2026, TikTok took action against 441,089 videos, which accounts for roughly 0.5% of all content uploaded to the platform due to violations of its guidelines. Remarkably, 99.1% of these videos were identified and removed by TikTok’s systems before any user reports were submitted. Additionally, 95% of the videos that were proactively taken down were removed within 24 hours of being posted. Throughout the same timeframe, 20,051 videos were reinstated on the platform.
On a global scale, TikTok removed a staggering total of 184,012,576 videos during this quarter, also representing about 0.5% of all uploads. Among these, 178,014,154 videos were detected and removed through automated detection technologies, while 8,838,710 videos were restored upon further examination.
In Q1 2026, there was a noticeable decline in the number of videos taken down before they received any views, indicating continuous enhancements in AI-driven moderation techniques. These AI systems are becoming more adept at recognizing and eliminating older content as well.
Furthermore, the removal of comments saw a significant reduction, attributed to an enforcement strategy aimed at limiting potentially offensive or inappropriate remarks. Globally, a total of 237,517,128 comments were removed during the quarter, an increase from 218,793,572 in Q4 2025.
The proactive removal rate stood at 99.3%, with 94.4% of flagged content being eliminated within a day of posting. In a bid to maintain the integrity of the platform, TikTok also removed 86,288,705 fake accounts this quarter, in addition to 25,764,372 accounts suspected of being operated by users under the age of 13.
The report reveals that 18.6% of the videos removed contained sensitive or mature themes that conflicted with TikTok’s content policies. Additionally, 12.6% of the removed content violated the platform’s safety and civility standards. Among the removed videos, 16.5% were recognized as depicting dangerous activities and challenges, while 12.9% involved body exposure and sexualized behavior. Furthermore, 2.1% of the videos taken down were flagged as edited media or AI-generated content (AIGC).
