Uber Introduces Premium Ride Experience in Sri Lanka with Launch of Uber Black

Uber has unveiled its premium ride service, Uber Black, in Sri Lanka, marking the introduction of a luxurious travel option in the country. This service is designed to offer what can be described as the “business class of back seats,” featuring high-end vehicles and top-rated drivers, aimed at passengers who seek enhanced comfort, quality, and a superior travel experience.

The launch of Uber Black comes in response to the increasing consumer demand for premium services and experiences in Sri Lanka. As individuals look for more refined choices in their daily activities, Uber Black provides a convenient option for various occasions, be it an airport transfer, an important business meeting, a special celebration, or simply a desire for a more comfortable journey.

With the addition of Uber Black, Uber now offers a comprehensive range of mobility solutions in Sri Lanka, catering to different needs and budgets. Users can select from economical rides via Uber Moto and Tuk, standard vehicles for daily commutes, as well as the premium experience of Uber Black, all accessible through the same app.

Uber Black will include a diverse selection of premium compact SUVs and larger vehicles, along with a carefully chosen group of highly rated drivers. Passengers also have the option to customize their trip prior to departure—whether that entails adjusting the in-car temperature, receiving assistance with luggage, or opting for a quiet ride free from conversation.

Kaushalya Gunaratne, the Mobility Country Manager for Uber Sri Lanka, stated, “For over ten years, we have been dedicated to providing reliable mobility solutions for a wider audience across various price ranges. As the market progresses, we are also focused on offering riders more unique experiences tailored to their specific moments. With a spectrum of choices from affordable two- and three-wheelers to cars and now the premium Uber Black, we can better meet the diverse mobility needs of both locals and visitors, while also supporting the growth of the tourism sector in the country. The launch of Uber Black represents a significant advancement in our journey and exemplifies our goal to continually enhance on-demand mobility in Sri Lanka.”
