Salesforce has transformed its platform, enabling everything to function as an API, MCP tool, or CLI command, thereby allowing agents to leverage these resources effectively.
Parker Harris, a co-founder of Salesforce, posed an intriguing question last month: “Why would anyone need to log into Salesforce again?” This inquiry was not merely rhetorical but served as a guiding principle for the company’s future direction.
For the past quarter-century, interacting with Salesforce typically required users to navigate through its interface. Customer service representatives would access a console, delve into a specific case, and manually update its status. However, in what is now termed the Agentic Enterprise, both human agents and automated systems are navigating the platform, with the latter utilizing APIs, MCP tools, and CLI commands rather than traditional browser interfaces.
In light of this, Salesforce has opted to redesign its platform specifically for agents. Instead of hiding functionalities behind a user interface, the company has opted to make these capabilities readily available, allowing for a fully programmable and accessible platform from any location.
The outcome of this initiative is Salesforce Headless 360, which provides essential tools for agents in the form of APIs, MCP tools, and CLI commands, enabling both humans and automated agents to create, act, and enhance user experiences across various platforms. This comprehensive approach spans all aspects of Salesforce, from customer support processes to sales workflows.
Salesforce Headless 360 introduces three key innovations: enhanced MCP tools and coding capabilities for coding agents to access the platform fully; a new experience layer that facilitates rich, native interactions across platforms like Slack, Voice, and WhatsApp; and improved tools that allow enterprises to manage agent behavior throughout the production lifecycle.
For developers, the headless approach means they can build on Salesforce using their preferred methods. Over 60 new MCP tools and more than 30 preconfigured coding skills are now available, providing coding agents with real-time access to data, workflows, and business logic through tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Windsurf.
The Agentforce Vibes 2.0 enhancement integrates this power directly within Salesforce, introducing comprehensive organizational awareness, multi-model support including Claude Sonnet and GPT-5, and an AI development partner that comprehends the business context beyond mere coding. Additionally, Natural Language DevOps enables developers to articulate their deployment intentions, allowing agents to manage execution seamlessly.
In the agentic enterprise, conversations serve as the interface. Tasks that used to disrupt conversations now occur within them, including approvals, decisions, and workflows, all integrated into the channels where users are already active.
The Agentforce Experience Layer empowers agents to provide interactive features such as approval cards, rebooking workflows, decision tiles, and data layouts across platforms like Slack, mobile, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Teams, or any client that supports MCP applications.
Salesforce is also prioritizing trust at scale. Tools such as Testing Center, Custom Scoring Evaluations, Agent Script, Observability, Session Tracing, A/B Testing, and Agent Fabric enable enterprises to assess, monitor, govern, and enhance agent performance throughout the entire lifecycle.
The effectiveness of agents is directly tied to the robustness of the platform they operate on. While intelligence is valuable, it requires context, workflows, trust, and the appropriate engagement layer to be truly effective.
Salesforce asserts that Headless 360 integrates Data 360, Customer 360, Agentforce, and Slack, providing enterprises with the necessary context, workflows, permissions, and engagement layers already established.
AgentExchange consolidates a vast ecosystem comprising 10,000 Salesforce applications, over 2,600 Slack applications, and more than 1,000 Agentforce agents, tools, and MCP servers from partners like Google, DocuSign, and Notion.
With Salesforce Headless 360, organizations can build solutions in any manner they choose and deploy them wherever their users may be.
Welcome to the future of Salesforce Headless 360.
