Vietjet Air Launches New Colombo to Ho Chi Minh City Route, Enhancing Ties Between Sri Lanka and Vietnam

Vietjet Air, a modern hybrid airline from Vietnam, has unveiled its inaugural direct flight service linking Colombo to Ho Chi Minh City during the Sri Lanka – Vietnam Trade, Investment, and Tourism Cooperation Forum. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam, Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and various high-ranking officials from both nations.

This new route marks Vietjet’s first direct connection between Sri Lanka and Vietnam, aimed at enhancing the airline’s global reach while fostering deeper economic, trade, tourism, and interpersonal relationships between the two countries.

Scheduled to begin operations in August 2026, the Colombo – Ho Chi Minh City route will feature four round-trip flights each week. Passengers traveling from Colombo can look forward to economical fares and easy access to Vietnam’s key tourism and business centers, as well as Vietjet’s comprehensive international network that connects to major locations throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, and more.
