FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – During the visit of President Tô Lâm, who also serves as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the two nations of Vietnam and Sri Lanka entered into five memoranda of understanding (MoUs).
These agreements cover various sectors, including tourism, security collaboration, cultural and religious matters, civil and commercial interactions, transportation, economic partnerships, as well as advancements in science and technology.
Among the signed MoUs, one is focused on enhancing police training and conducting scientific research, established between the People’s Police Academy of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and the National Police Academy of Sri Lanka.
Another agreement pertains to collaboration in the realm of science and technology, which was signed by the Ministry of Science and Technology from both countries.
Additionally, there is an MoU between Vietnam’s Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to foster cooperation in religious and cultural domains.
Further, an agreement aimed at promoting cultural cooperation has been established between Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.
Lastly, a memorandum concerning information and communications has been signed by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health and Mass Media. (Colombo/May 8/2026)
