Sri Lanka’s WindForce, an energy company, has announced that its subsidiary, Diyajanani, will officially launch a 5MW floating solar power facility today. Additionally, a standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), developed in collaboration with Vidullanka, is also set to be commissioned.
The BESS, which has a capacity of 10 MW/40 MWh, is located in Anuradhapura and was created through StoreX (Pvt) Ltd. This facility marks the first of 13 planned BESS installations that will together deliver a total energy storage capacity of 130 MW/520 MWh.
According to WindForce, the floating solar plant is projected to produce around 9 GWh of renewable energy each year. With these new projects coming online, WindForce PLC’s total renewable energy generation capacity will rise to approximately 268 MW.
