WindForce Units in Sri Lanka Secure Successful Proposals for 28MW Energy Storage Initiatives

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE — WindForce PLC, a renewable energy firm, has announced that six of its project companies have successfully won bids to establish battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a total capacity of 28 megawatts (MW) and 144 megawatt-hours (MWh), as detailed in a regulatory announcement.

The total estimated equity investment for these storage initiatives is around 944 million rupees. The bids were submitted in response to a tender aimed at developing 150 MW / 600 MWh BESS that will be integrated with existing ground-mounted solar power installations. These projects will follow a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) framework, with an operational duration of 15 years.

Although the official project awards are yet to be finalized, WindForce’s Board of Directors has deemed this news to be sensitive to the company’s stock price due to its implications for future operations, potential expansion of the project portfolio, and long-term financial projections.

WindForce acknowledged that this release includes forward-looking statements related to the current bidding results, which are contingent upon the final awarding process, necessary regulatory approvals, and the completion of related agreements.

The company indicated that it will provide further updates to the market once formal contracts are awarded, agreements are executed, or any significant developments arise. (Colombo/Sept25/2026)
