India opens airspace to Pakistani aircraft – Premier Modi’s statesmanship hailed.

India has permitted Pakistani aircraft to overfly its air space en-route to Sri Lanka. The move which has been much hailed by the Sri Lankan government and diplomatic missions in the region.

In what is seen as a recognition of the deep challenges facing Sri Lanka, Prime minister Narendra Modi’s government has cleared the use of its airspace for humanitarian cargo flights en-route to Sri Lanka from Pakistan.

In view of their own ongoing issues India has withdrawn rights to overfly its territory to Pakistani aircraft and in that context Premier Narendra Modi is being hailed for his holistic and humanitarian outlook.

A former Sri Lankan legislator said, “This rather shows how very much India’s government led by Prime Minister Modi cares for the welfare of their tiny neighbour.”
