Inaugural flight from Kazakhstan to Sri Lanka for winter season lands at BIA

The inaugural winter season flight from Kazakhstan to Sri Lanka successfully arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday, marking the commencement of seasonal travel between the two countries.

This flight, operated by Air Astana Airlines, departed from Almaty, Kazakhstan, and touched down at BIA at 4:10 p.m. The aircraft was carrying a total of 182 passengers, along with 8 crew members.

As part of the seasonal schedule, Air Astana will operate flights from Almaty to Colombo twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays, continuing until March 31, 2026.

Upon arrival, the group of Kazakhstani tourists received a warm welcome from officials of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau at the airport.
