Sri Lankan President to Attend Indian AI Summit This Week

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, is set to visit New Delhi following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in an Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit, as announced by the Indian High Commission in Colombo.

The event, titled the “India–AI Impact Summit 2026,” will be held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, 2026. The summit is guided by three core principles: People, Planet, and Progress, which outline India’s strategy for international collaboration in the realm of artificial intelligence.

The Indian High Commission’s statement highlighted that the summit aims to gather global leaders, policymakers, innovators, and experts from around the world to discuss future directions in AI technology.

President Dissanayake is among the 20 leaders invited by Prime Minister Modi to attend this significant event. Notably, Sri Lanka is one of only two South Asian nations to receive an invitation, despite India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy. Other invited countries include Bhutan, Bolivia, Brazil, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Guyana, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Seychelles, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and the UAE.
