Janashakthi Life, a prominent entity in the insurance sector and a subsidiary of JXG (Janashakthi Group), has recently completed a community-centric Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This effort, spearheaded by its Life Operations team, aimed to assist students at Maho / Bakmeewewa Primary School, a rural institution affected by the Ditwah Cyclone.

This initiative is a testament to Janashakthi Life’s ongoing dedication to fostering inclusive development and ensuring equitable access to education, especially in underprivileged communities. Implemented following the cyclone, the project sought to cater to the immediate educational needs of students, facilitating their return to a more supportive and conducive learning environment.

As part of their efforts, Janashakthi Life provided books, school bags, stationery, and a multimedia projector, significantly enhancing student access to educational materials and the school’s overall classroom resources.

Ravi Liyanage, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Janashakthi Insurance PLC, remarked, “At Janashakthi Life, our obligations extend beyond financial protection; we aim to create a meaningful impact within the communities we serve. Supporting education, particularly during challenging times, is an investment in the future. This initiative underscores our belief that recovery should be inclusive and that no child should be left behind due to circumstances beyond their control.”

This project was initiated by the Life Operations team and received support from colleagues across various departments, highlighting a strong cross-functional collaboration and a unified commitment to social responsibility.

Fathima Ahmeer, Assistant General Manager – Life Operations, commented on the ground-level impact of the initiative, “This project was driven by a sincere desire to meaningfully address the needs of these students in the aftermath of the cyclone. The support we provided was carefully chosen to enhance daily learning and restore a sense of normalcy for both students and teachers. The collective effort from across the organization made this initiative truly impactful.”

Through endeavors like this, Janashakthi Life continues to affirm its role as a responsible corporate citizen, integrating community development into its operations while positively contributing to education and long-term social welfare.
