FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Lankapay, Sri Lanka’s payment network operator, announced that it has successfully enrolled approximately 260 government institutions into its services and aims to double this number within the year.
Channa de Silva, CEO of Lankapay, revealed these plans during a press conference held to introduce the LankaPay Technnovation Awards 2026. “We are planning to double the number of departments [joining LankaPay] this year,” de Silva stated to the reporters.
Initially, only eight government institutions were fully connected with Lankapay, de Silva added. Recently, nearly 30 new government institutions from Kurunegala have been integrated into the Lankapay network as of last week. Plans for further expansion into Kandy and other regions are also underway.
