Medihelp Hospitals, Sri Lanka’s largest primary healthcare network and fastest-growing healthcare chain, officially inaugurated its 20th facility in Ambalangoda on January 29, 2026. This milestone signifies the organization’s first venture into the Southern Province as part of its nationwide expansion strategy. Ambalangoda, a vibrant coastal city in the Galle District, is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, growing urban population, and thriving commercial sector. Its strategic location along the southern transport corridor, coupled with the rising demand for modern healthcare services, makes it a critical site in Medihelp’s long-term expansion plans.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including Hon. Asela Godahewa, Mayor of Ambalangoda Urban Council, among other notable dignitaries. The event was attended by the Chairman and Board of Directors of Medihelp Hospitals, management and staff members, invited guests, and media representatives. The newly opened Medihelp Ambalangoda branch is well-equipped to provide an extensive range of healthcare services. These services include an emergency treatment unit, outpatient department (OPD), specialist consultations, a pharmacy, a fully automated diagnostic laboratory, a digital X-ray unit, ultrasound scanners, echocardiography, exercise ECG, and an endoscopy unit. In the near future, the facility plans to offer inpatient services, enabling patients to stay overnight and receive continuous medical care.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director of Medihelp Hospitals, Mr. Chandika Wijesiriwardana, highlighted that the Ambalangoda branch represents not only the company’s 20th location but also a significant stride towards achieving its broader vision of establishing a comprehensive national healthcare network. This network is designed to provide trusted and accessible medical services to communities across Sri Lanka. With this latest opening, Medihelp reaffirms its status as a leading and rapidly expanding entity in the country’s private healthcare sector, while remaining committed to its long-term mission of enhancing access to quality and affordable healthcare for all Sri Lankans.
