The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok has played a pivotal role in facilitating Sri Lanka’s significant participation at the 73rd edition of the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF), which is underway from February 22 to 26, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.

The Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair is one of the world’s most esteemed jewelry trade exhibitions, ranking among the top four globally. This year, it features participation from 1,300 companies across 2,800 booths. Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya graciously presided over the inauguration session, officially opening the Fair.

Thanks to the efforts of the Embassy, sixty Sri Lankan companies are showcasing their products under the Sri Lanka Pavilion, collectively occupying seventy-five booths. The Pavilion highlights an impressive array of world-renowned Ceylon gemstones, including sapphires and other precious stones, exemplifying Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, craftsmanship, and industry excellence.

The opening ceremony of the Sri Lanka Pavilion was graced by the Honorable Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, Sunil Handunnetti, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, and the Chairman of the National Gem and Jewelry Authority (NGJA), S. P. Chaminda.

In addition to the exhibitors from Sri Lanka, about ten Sri Lankan-owned companies based in Thailand are also participating in the Fair. Their involvement further emphasizes the active engagement and expanding presence of the Sri Lankan business community within Thailand’s dynamic gems and jewelry sector.

Sri Lanka’s participation at BGJF 2026 underscores the country’s ongoing commitment to strengthening trade ties with Thailand and the wider ASEAN region, while promoting Ceylon gems and jewelry to the global marketplace. The Embassy remains dedicated to supporting Sri Lankan exporters and fostering mutually beneficial commercial partnerships between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
