The inaugural flight of Vision Air from Kishinev, the capital of Moldova, is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on December 27. This initiative has been facilitated by Udayanga Weeratunga, a former ambassador, who has played a key role in attracting tourists from former Soviet republics.

During this winter season, Vision Air is expected to operate six flights, bringing approximately 1,500 tourists to Sri Lanka. These visitors are projected to generate revenue of around 2.25 million US dollars, according to a statement by Weeratunga.

The tourists are being organized by the travel agency Join Up and will be hosted in Sri Lanka by Delux Holidays. Additionally, Sky Up Airlines is also set to commence flights from Kishinev to Sri Lanka.

Weeratunga noted that the incoming flights will primarily transport Ukrainian tourists, as all airports in Ukraine are currently closed.
