Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved the Renewable Energy Resources Development Plan for 2025-2030, as announced by Minister Nalinda Jayatissa. This plan was developed by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
According to Jayatissa, the plan focuses on three primary areas. These include the identification and prioritization of suitable lands, the development of a renewable energy map and a timeline for renewable energy park development, as well as the establishment of floating solar power projects.
Sri Lanka aims to meet 70 percent of its national electricity demand through renewable energy sources by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
