Stock Market Surges with Impressive Rs. 4.9 Billion Turnover

On Thursday, the Colombo Stock Exchange experienced a surge in trading activity, with turnover approaching the Rs. 5 billion mark. This uptick indicates increased investor participation compared to recent sessions.

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) rose by 78.13 points, closing at 23,781.23. Similarly, the S&P SL20 Index climbed 24.90 points to finish at 6,710.17, reflecting a broad-based positive momentum across the market.

The total market turnover for the day reached Rs. 4.91 billion. Analyzing market participation, domestic purchases were recorded at Rs. 4.66 billion, while domestic sales amounted to Rs. 4.85 billion. Foreign investors, on the other hand, made purchases worth Rs. 249 million and sales totaling Rs. 55 million, leading to a net foreign inflow during the session.
