ADB Delegation Visits Colombo Port to Review Development Projects and Operations

A high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by its President Masato Kanda, conducted a site visit to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority today (23) to assess ongoing development projects and operational activities.

The visit included inspections at the Port of Colombo and its pilot station, where the delegation reviewed key infrastructure developments and observed day-to-day port operations.

The ADB team comprised several senior officials, including Mahinda Siriwardana, Sona Shrestha, Keiichiro Inui, Manisha Pradhananga, Larry Giltrow, Robert Hugh Davis, Eric Norman, and Jeongwon Seo.

During the visit, ADB representatives held discussions with Parakrama Dissanayake, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, and W. W. S. Mangala, Secretary of the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation.

Talks focused on the progress of ongoing projects, enhancing operational efficiency, and identifying opportunities to further strengthen collaboration between the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the ADB. Emphasis was also placed on improving project delivery timelines and boosting the overall performance of port operations.

The visit highlights ADB’s continued commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s maritime infrastructure development and strengthening the country’s position as a key regional shipping hub.
